Anchorage

Last week, we left to Anchorage for volleyball, and we played against the Point Hope Harpooners. They were the champions and they didn't have a hard time on losing. We went to many places, thanks to Tamy and Pete, such like H2O Oasis, and the malls. We really had a good time, but the boys had a cheap hotel room. The boys only had one room, which two boys slept on the floor for 4 days. One of them was me that slept on the floor. The girls are the lucky ones because they get to have two room, n' all of them would sleep on beds. That explains why i was sore on my back every time I woke up. Yeah, Anchorage was very awesome and i really had a great time, but we all had a mood on us, suck like anger, or being annoyed. I tried my best to make my teammates laugh, and I joked around most of the time. A lot of fun, n' I'm sure i'll forget about what I did because I already forgot about what we did in California. Some of it I don't remember though.

X-mas

For christmas, I really don't know if i'll get any stuff for christmas where you clothes or some kind of stuff on December 25. For seventeen years of getting things from my parents on Christmas day, i've been happy n' know that my parents love me, so with my siblings. If i don't get anything for christmas, it really doesn't matter because i'm old already, n' i wan to see how its like to watch my siblings open up their presents. I don't think i will go to slaaviq either, only to my friends n' relatives home. I don't think i will be traveling anywhere, maybe to Bethel an' stuff.

Thankful for Thanksgiving

I am thankful for everyone who is around me and who is there for me. For those who are against me, mean to me, a disgrace to me, who makes fun of me, anyone who does anything to hurt my feelings, I am very thankful for them. No doubt about it, because this is just life. There are a lot of things I am thankful for, all of my family, my friends, enemies, teachers, school, life, everything around me. Anything that I didn't mention, I am thankful for, and this isn't a good blog because I don't know why. Quyana haters, non-haters.

Basketball

Basketball is almost here and I'm afraid that my teammates won't be eligible. It's their own fault though, they need to leave their laptops at school. I don't know what to do this year, if we don't have a ball team. If we don't have a team, I'll gladly like to be with the Akula ballers, if we don't have any team. If we do have a team, i'll be the most happiest person because having a ball team in Akiuk is awesome. I like my ball team and we are a small team, plus a small school. Playing ball with them is the best because we share the ball and everyone gets the ball before we shoot. Basketball is the best here, and everyone knows that. I hope my boys are eligible so we can play ball together one or two more years. I'm not being mean, but our boys need to catch up on their school work and leave their laptops at home. We are getting attitudes too because we don't get enough sleep. Basketball, c'mon boys, catch up. It hurts so bad inside me right now cause most of our boys aren't eligible, and they aren't working hard to catch up.

Community

Community: When it comes to a family that is in trouble, our community goes straight to that family, and help them out with anything they could find to help. Just like, when that family needs help, we the people of Kasigluk support that family with donations and collecting money from each house. That way, we let the people around us know that we care for each other. It is like a miracle, but even better. We support those people who need help, and that is a gift from god, because we are so supportive and caring. We know that caring for people is strong and that makes that family really happy. It's not just one family we support, but for the whole people in Kasigluk and near villages. Life is great when we love each other and care about one another. It makes life easier that way.

Halloween-Weekend

HAhaha, my weekend was a blast. Too much was happening around me and now I'm really tired. On Friday, during halloween, our students n' staff hosted a halloween carnival that ended up very funny at the end of the day. There was too much action happening, eskimo dancing and lil' kids performing. The best part of that day was when couple students eskimo danced using a suite of themselves to make people laugh. I was in one of the costume and purposely made an elder woman mad, and she chased after me.lol. It was so funny, and scary at the same time because that was the first time a woman like that ran after me. The next day, we had our haunted house that was pretty cool, and I really had wonderful time. Scaring people, scaring myself, and freaking out all night. On a sunday, I was really busy, waking up from a phone call from my father at eight o'clock in the morning. I had to spill out the water from the washing machine because i was washing clothes. After, I packed water for an hour, packing thirty-nine gallons of water. Feed the dogs, clean up the whole school, played basketball for two hours, wash more clothes, played volleyball, and cleaning up the house. Busy weekend and this was a boring entry i wrote.

Fast Forward Life

I guess I'd pick this umm, fast motion style because... umm, I don't really know.... well, i guess I chose this because I wanted life to be faster and being slow moe seems boring. Life being fast moe would be better because life with fast moe seems better. That's all.

What I care about.......

Umm, there are a lot of things I care about in life, and I guess everyone around here care about themselves also. There are ten things I care about and one is my family. I care about them because I lived with them for eighteen years and they helped me grow up into a good boy. Parent's did anything for me to be comfortable in the house, and my siblings are always around to make me happy. I care about my grandparent's because whenever the river is freezing or the ice melting, I always have a roof under me to sleep at, and a place to eat at. They are very caring towards my siblings and me every day, making us happy and giving us presents during christmas. Friends. I really care about my friends also, because that's what we all need in order to stay happy comfortable around the village. Friends aren't just friends to me, they are like brothers and sisters to me because they are always there for me and keep joyful. Friends cheer you up, and they heal you from sorrow, know what I'm saying. Umm, I also care about my teachers because they are helping me with school and are willing to make us happy. Teachers are sort of like our parents because they look after us, and the cook is who I care about. Annie makes breakfast and lunch for us everyday on weekdays. She doesn't let us starve and she makes sure everyone is fed well at the school. I care about the people in our village because we try and make this village safe, and there are a lot of different games all year round. School is also a caring thing for me, because that is where I'm getting education done. Oh, yeah. Mr. W is awesome too, our principal. We are very spoiled having Mr. W as our principle because we get whatever we want from him. I mean, we are always begging for things, and he finds a way to get what we need. Just like our jerseys, and he makes sure we have everything we need. I care about my boat and snow machine because those things bring me to school everyday and I have places to travel at. Too much to care about, and I'll stop here. Last thing I care about is every thing that is around me, even life.

Volleyball Season

Volleyball season just started now, and we just had our first volleyball meet over at Akiak. Six teams from different sites were supposed to travel, but two teams didn't make it. Plus, I was on a second plane to go over to Akiak, but then it JP Air wouldn't come back to pick me up because my other teammates that were in the plane almost skidded off the runway while landing. But, then I left early in the next morning on a Saturday, which was awkward for me. I'm not used to traveling on a Saturday, because most student participants usually head out on Fridays. Anyway, our first real game was against Tuntutuliak, which we won with no effort. On our next game with Akiak, the ones that got first in our Mixed-Six Regional Tournament last year, we even won against them before we started sweating. That was a good weekend we had for my teammates and I. Plus, we didn't have a full team with us. Only six players gone to Akiak, and four of our good players weren't eligible. I hope that we have a wonderful season, and I do wish that we have full team this year.

Sunset

Yesterday, on May 12, was a really nice evening. The sun was going down, and the sky was filled with different colors, and reflecting the tundra, houses, and steam houses with a color of bright red and orange. It was a wonderful seen, but I was with a friend, which I wished was a girl, instead of a guy. A girl would be better for an evening like that, but we were hanging out, walking home from school. There was a swan calling from nearby, and that was the only bird that was making noises, which made evening special. The sun was very bright, with and orange all around it. I wondered why the sky was mixed with many colors, though, the sun was orange. Hmm, confusing. It was very calm out, and I wanted to stay outside until the sun was all gone, but i had to go in and get some sleep. Boy, what a night it was for me, and I do really want some evenings like this every night, but with a girl instead.

Jigging

Over the weekend, i really had to go out and take a fresh air. I was just riding around looking for my family at the Johnson River. Once i found them, i ended up jigging. It was a lot of fun, and it's been a while, since i've gone fishing with my family. The sun was up, so there was a lot of water everywhere. While jigging, i noticed i caught six pikes in just thirty minutes. I think I was the only one that was catching pikes. The pikes were as big as them Kuskokwim River pikes. Catching pike was much fun, but then my brother wanted to go home, so I brought him home disappointed. Jigging for pikes, it takes time to catch fish.

Eskimo Dancing

Eskimo dancing have been growing very fast in this village, once we got our drummer and singer. We have been dancing and practicing for about three months now. High school students been dancing alone mostly, but after the dance at cama-i, all the transition kids, and Jr High students joined us all in performing at our gymnasium, with all the people watching. That really made me happy, and now we got our spirit going again. Now that we started practicing, the gymnasium we practice at, is full always filled with students. The drummers and singers are still increasing too. Our dance group is now coming back, after almost losing our dancing. I am still wishing more kids and students to come dance at our school every evening. We are supposed to perform later this afternoon, but I think there will be less dancers, because we had to fill out an eligibility form to dance. Some students can't dance tonight, because they aren't eligible. Dancing is still growing in this village, and i cannot stay away from Eskimo Dancing.

Bird Hunting

On the day of May 6th, my father, brother, and I went bird hunting and gone off early in the morning. My father told us we'd be going to my Grandpa's cabin, which was sixteen miles away from home. It took us about an hour and half to get to it, because the snow is melting fast. There were a lot of puddles, and streams while driving to the cabin. It was very sunny that day, so we had a good chance to see everything in the hills. Plus, it's a really good sight up in the hills, and you can see for miles away. Well, we caught about twenty-two white fronted geese, and canadian geese, mixed together. The spot we were hunting on, it was like a field, very flat, and lots of grass. I think i've wasted about a box of shells, while hunting them big birds. I'm out of time, and I will stop here.

Little Boy

I was once a little boy back then, playing ball with my father as I grew up. But now I am old enough to play ball with anyone at anytime. I can handle playing basketball every day and it doesn't even bore me out because I grew up playing basketball. Now that I'm older, all the men I know who used to play ball, give me a lot of advice on how to become a better athlete. Everyday, from playing basketball, I am learning slowly. People say that I am short when I'm out there on the court playing ball, but my experiences tells me I can do everything on the court, rebounding, shooting, dribbling, teamwork, and running with out the ball. All the advice my father gave me from his experiences, are the skills I am using now. Basketball is a one time favorite sport for me.

Timberline

Timberline. Wow, what an adventure! Timberline, sweet, what a place! Okay, enough of this. Yesterday was a really good day for me, because our Principal sent us out to the tree line with couple adults yesterday. We went out to Timberline to get some steam wood. During the morning, it was snowing pretty badly, and we had doubts we were heading out from Kasigluk. So, before noon, we had the chance to get out of here with five snow machines, each snow machine hitched with a sled. My class mates and I were all in sleds all the way to Timberline, and riding on sled I didn't like much because the trail was very rough with no snow. Well, there was snow, but that snow out there is pretty darn hard which. I have gone to the tree line many times, so I had the chance to tell my friends where we were at and when we'd get to Timberline. On our way over to Timberline my teacher saw a lot white birds, which she really didn't know of, and she asked me what they were. I couldn't help laughing at her, so i told her they were Eskimo chickens (ptarmigan). It took us about four three hours to get over at the tree line. When we got over to the tree line, our chaperones hogged up all the snow machines and went in to the trees to cut up some trees. There were a lot of high school boys that went, but we all didn't have the chance to haul up steam woods to the sled. That made us upset for awhile, but we got it over with and we all went into the trees being very bored. It was a great day, plus, it was very sunny out. Well, my time is out, so i guess I'll finish this up later.

Best Advice from an Elder

The advice i've been getting all these years was from everyone, and i think that they were all the best. My Grandpa had gave me a lot of advice for basketball during my basketball events last week. He told me to take it easy on the court and not rush the ball all through the game. I even remember him saying that I am the ball handler and the leader of my team My Grandpa always give me a lot of advice for everything, like how to hunt, and where to fish at Kuskokwim during the summer. The more advice i get from him, the more I pay attention to all the things. His advices make me a better person in little and big ways. He is a great person to me, and he let's me know anything that I don't have in my mind. The advices he gives me each day are very true and I even understand him slowly.

Slaaviq

Choir's singing wonderful, joyous melodies out loud in each house, while tiny, little infants doze off in their mother's arms. People sitting around on the hard, punishing floor, waiting patiently to get all their sweet, juicy candies, and their hot bowl of soup. Teenager's, and kid's penetrating through a lot of people, trying to find a way out to the door. Each house full of massive heat, while everybody is sweating impatiently. Slaaviq.
